From the early age of 9, assisting her Aunt in the salon, Gena knew that this was the career for her.
Gena attended cosmetology on Long Island, while still in high school, graduated and moved to Charlottesville Virginia, where her career began.
Working with some of the best in the business, she continued her education with classes at the Graham Webb academy, and countless Trade shows, picking up tons of knowledge and technique that would make her the master hair designer she is today. In 2000, Gena opened Vanity Salon.
Vanity became a huge success and in the summer of 2003, was chosen by TLC to be featured in their show, A Makeover Story.
Gena has had the privilege of working with many local celebrities that have made Charlottesville their home, at times traveling with and for them to on-site photo shoots. She has also done hair and makeup on movie sets, for tv appearances and for interview with Stephan Lessard and now wife in Modern Bride Magazine.
Gena loves doing customized color, precision cuts, smoothing treatments, and customized designs for Weddings and formal events.
